P79 PolyTex2
Soft
Stitchbonded Poly Sheet

USES: P9 PolyTex2 is an excellent reinforcing sheet for roof recover installations, and foundation type waterproofing projects. PolyTex2 is friendly to install.

DESCRIPTION: P79 PolyTex2 is a leading edge roofing and waterproofing reinforcing sheet made from 100% natural stitch bonded polyester. PolyTex2 was designed as a high-tech reinforcing membrane for roof recover installations and foundation type waterproofing projects. When PolyTex2 was tested against fiberglass, which is the next best performing sheet, PolyTex2 out performed fiberglass in all categories, including: 5000% more thermal shock fatigue cycles; 95% greater elongation; 73% greater tensile strength; 99% greater toughness; 83% greater puncture resistance; and 94% greater tear resistance. PolyTex2 provides superior performance against thermal shock, the daily expansion and contraction of a roof caused by temperature changes. Roofs eventually split apart under the assault of thermal shock cycles. PolyTex2 is your best defense against these attacks. With PolyTex2 your roofing and waterproofing installations will perform much longer.

DIRECTIONS: Store P79 PolyTex2 rolls on end. Keep all roofing products protected from the weather and physical damage. Only put roofing products on roof at time of installation. Start by cleaning away all gravel, dirt, vegetation, and debris from the installation area. To apply Fields adhesives and coatings, use a medium stiff bristle brush between 10" and 16" wide with a minimum 7' handle; or ambient asphalt spray equipment. Use a sharp roofing knife to cut PolyTex2. The substrate shall be dry, frost free, broom clean, and smooth. For roof recover installations, cut and smooth blisters, wrinkles, curled edges, roof irregularities, etc., and apply M300 RubrMastic and G60 GlasWeb to repair all such cuts. Also, apply RubrMastic and G60 GlasWeb to seal splits. PolyTex2 can be installed in 1 or 2 layers. For roofs with no pitch; severe weather locations; degrading environments; and ponding water situations, install 2 layers of PolyTex2. PolyTex2 can be installed with either M100 RubrStar or M150 RubrSeal. RubrStar is a water based asphalt emulsion for installations during dry, warm weather. RubrSeal is a mineral spirit based cutback asphalt for installations during both cool and warm weather. RubrStar is a white asphalt that makes it possible to do a 1 step PolyTex installation, because RubrStar is both an adhesive and reflective coating in one application. RubrSeal is a black asphalt that requires a 2 step PolyTex2 installation in that the RubrStar reflective coating is required to be delayed for a minimum of four weeks until the RubrSeal has set up. All asphalt quantities given below are in gallons per 100 square feet of roof area. Adhesives and coatings shall be uniformly applied at the rates given. Start by cutting and adhering two layers of PolyTex2 base flashing strips under counter flashings; and around pipe penetrations, drains, skylights, chimneys, etc. Extend base flashing strips onto the horizontal plane of the roof a minimum of 8". The total asphalt required to install PolyTex2 is 5 gallons under and 5 gallons between each layer plus a RubrStar reflective coating of 3 gallons. A one layer installation of PolyTex2 requires 5 gals of either RubrStar or RubrSeal as an adhesive, plus a RubrStar reflective coating of 3 gallons. A two layer installation of PolyTex2 requires 10 gallons of either RubrStar or RubrSeal as an adhesive, plus a RubrStar reflective coating of 3 gallons. Start the field of the PolyTex2 installation at the lowest drainage location on the roof, and install the PolyTex2 sheets perpendicular to low-slopes and parallel to steep-slopes. Start each layer at the same location. The flow of water shall be over or parallel to the PolyTex2 seams, but never against the seams. Generously apply either RubrStar or RubrSeal at the rate of 5 gallons in a 40" wide strip as the adhesive under the first layer of PolyTex2. Set the first roll of PolyTex2 into the asphalt making sure it unrolls straight and without any wrinkles. Carefully press the unrolled PolyTex2 sheet into the asphalt by lightly brushing the surface until complete adhesion is achieved. Do not step on the PolyTex2 until the asphalt has set up. Lap each succeeding PolyTex2 sheet on the 3" lay lines. Apply a final RubrStar reflective coating of 3 gallons. For two layers of PolyTex2, start the second layer with a 20" wide starter sheet cut from a 40" wide PolyTex2 sheet. Generously apply either RubrStar or RubrSeal at the rate of 5 gallons in a 40" wide strip as an interply adhesive. Lap the starter sheets 3" with the first full width PolyTex2 sheet, and continue lapping the full width PolyTex2 sheets on the 3" lay lines. End laps shall be a minimum of 6" and offset at least 36". Apply a final RubrStar reflective coating of 3 gallons.
