A700 AtcoGard
Emulsion
Asphalt Coating
USES: A700 AtcoGard protects surfaces exposed to the weather. AtcoGard is an excellent protective coating for roofs, foundations, concrete, metal, and wood. AtcoGard may be applied to install PolyWeb waterproofing sheets. AtcoGard is compatible with SEBS, APP, and SBS modified bitumen roofing products and will adhere to most surfaces including roofing, wood, metal, glass, and concrete.
DIRECTIONS: A700 AtcoGard is friendly to apply, especially in warm, dry conditions. AtcoGard sets up in approximately 1 to 4 hours, depending on weather conditions. Apply with a medium stiff bristle brush or asphalt emulsion spray equipment. Do not apply AtcoGard if rain or excessive humidity is imminent either during or immediately following application; or if the outside temperature is below 50° F. Clean gravel, dirt, vegetation, and debris from the application area. Make sure the application surface is smooth, firm, frost-free, and dry. Apply AtcoGard directly from the container without diluting. Thoroughly mix AtcoGard just prior to application. Generously apply AtcoGard as a roof coating at the uniform rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet, and as a foundation coating at the uniform rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet. Prior to coating, seal any leaking penetrations with M300 RubrMastic and PolyWeb, and repair all fissures. Make a 3 layer repair with AtcoGard and PolyWeb over fissures and degraded areas. First brush a generous application of AtcoGard over the repair area and beyond the width and length of the PolyWeb you intend to install. Second, lightly brush the PolyWeb into the AtcoGard. Third, carefully brush a generous application of AtcoGard over the entire repair, making sure to completely cover the PolyWeb. For severe fissures, apply additional layers of PolyWeb and AtcoGard. To install PolyWeb waterproofing sheets with AtcoGard, uniformly apply 3 gallons per 100 square feet of AtcoGard in a 3 foot wide strip as an adhesive under the first roll of PolyWeb. Set the PolyWeb into the AtcoGard, making sure it unrolls straight and without any wrinkles. Carefully press the unrolled PolyWeb into the AtcoGard by lightly brushing the surface until complete adhesion is achieved. Do not step on the PolyWeb until the AtcoGard has set up. Continue installing each successive roll of PolyWeb by overlapping the prior sheet 2" on the sides. For each additional layer of PolyWeb, repeat the above process using 3 gallons per 100 square feet of AtcoGard in a complete interply application. Center the rolls of each additional layer of PolyWeb over the seams of the prior layer. Apply a final surface coating of AtcoGard at the uniform rate of 3 gallons per 100 square feet. For maximum protection and reduced energy costs, apply M800 RubrStar over the AtcoGard after set up.
DESCRIPTION: A700 AtcoGard is a quality asphalt emulsion manufactured from 100% oxidized roofing asphalt. AtcoGard has been engineered to provide a Class A Fire Rating over most roofs. AtcoCoat provides superior elastic performance against thermal shock, the daily expansion and contraction of a roof caused by temperature changes. In addition, the sun's UV rays attack the roof membrane making it brittle and weak, inducing membrane ruptures during thermal shock cycles. AtcoGard is your best defense against these attacks. With AtcoGard, your roofing and waterproofing installations will perform much longer. AtcoGard is asbestos free.
SPECIFICATIONS: A700 AtcoGard exceeds the standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM D 1227 Type 3, Class 1. Maximum VOC 0 grams per liter.
